Sancho is one of our favorite restaurants in Maginhawa. Even though Funshine and I told ourselves that we wanted to jump from one Maginhawa restaurant to another to sample everything, we just kept on coming back to this tiny place. It’s always filled with people not because the space is too confined, but because families just love to dine here.
Since it is a churreria, we immediately ordered churros! Sancho is quite known for serving this incredibly scrumptious, authentic-tasting traditional Spanish treat (whew, what a mouthful). If you love Dulcinea’s churros, you should definitely try theirs.
Freshly-fried crunchy churros are served with piping hot chocolate that has just the right amount of sweetness. Can you tell that we bears just love their churros? We order it every time! I like it so much that I can’t help but dip my finger into the cup of chocolate after we have already eaten all of the churros. Gross, I know. But it’s that good!
Aside from churros, Sancho also offers other equally mouthwatering foods.
For starters, we ordered Blueberry Cheesecake and Chili con Carne with Nachos. I know that Blueberry Cheesecake is not considered as an appetizer, but after seeing it on the display, I just had to have it! It was soft and delicate, the blueberries on top were sweet and juicy, and the crust was very buttery. It was not as special as the churros, but it was not bad either.
The Chili Con Carne with Nachos was also really good. It’s cheesy and spicy… I love it. You would think that the serving is just right, but it’s actually A LOT. We had trouble finishing this one not because it doesn’t taste good, but because it’s enough for a group of 4 to 5 persons.
I was craving for pasta that night so I decided to try their Puttanesca. The sauce is a perfect mix of anchovies, capers, olives, and chilies. It’s a bit too salty for the Brown Oso, though :P.
Funshine ordered the Garlic Chicken. It is served with a cup of white rice and a generous amount of buttered vegetables. As you can see, the serving is HUGE. Funshine liked the chicken and loved the vegetables.
If you think that the two bears have had too much to eat that they would skip dessert, you are wrong! The sweets on display were just mouthwateringly irresistible that we ordered a Cream Puff and Chocolate Eclair. Both were creamy and not too sweet. Funshine also ordered a cup of Brewed Coffee (P 40), but we were not able to take a picture of it because we could barely move. LOL.
Funshine and Brown Oso don’t really eat a lot all the time. We are quite disciplined when it comes to ordering food… except when we’re in Sancho 🙂
